Creationist's Biblical Battle Call Sparks 'Overwhelming' Response From Evolutionists

"...the other side has absolutely no evidence."

Dr. Joseph Mastropaolo, a California-based creationist, sparked headlines earlier this week with his $20,000 challenge to evolutionists. If you'll recall, the former professor challenged those who embrace Darwinian theory to argue their points against him in front of judge. TheBlaze spoke with Mastropaolo on Thursday evening to see if any evolutionary enthusiasts have taken him up on his intriguing offer.

Interestingly, the creationist said that he received a reaction far beyond anything he had expected. In fact, he called the response "overwhelming." The e-mails accepting his call were so plentiful that he's stayed up all night one evening this week to answer them. Of the exact number, he said, "I can't tell you how many."

"I thought maybe we'd get a dozen or two dozen," Mastropaolo told TheBlaze of the anticipated evolutionist interest. "I havent been able to count [the responses]. I've just been going at it day after day."

Naturally, we asked what the next steps are for the former professor, who holds a Ph.D. in kinesiology. Mastropaolo said that he's really to roll and that, at the moment, he's willing to find a judge who would be amicable to both parties. He simply needs to narrow down which evolutionist is most prepared for the debate.

"Whoever's ready first will be first on the list," he said. "We're probably going to start looking for an available judge next week."

Mastropaolo said he's even willing to take on more than one anti-creationist in the courtroom -- and he indicated that there may even be more than one debate. As for his side of the duel, he's already prepared both an abstract and an unabridged article that outlines all of his views on creationism and evolution (the latter is 10,000 words, with 106 footnotes).

"If this comes up in the trial, what I will do is I will present evidence that Adam and Eve were true people and that they were created brand new," he told TheBlaze.

Claiming that he's motivated by decades of education experience during which he contends that he was lied to about humanity's origins, the ex-professor wants to set the record straight. So, he's preparing to argue his points in an effort to have a robust conversation and debate about creationism and evolution.

When asked if he believes he'll win, he was confident.

"Oh, you know, I hate to sound like I'm bragging," Mastropaolo said through laughter. "But the other side has absolutely no evidence."

We'll have to wait and see who wins the debate in the coming weeks (you can read more about the contest here).
