John McCain Snaps at David Gregory Over Benghazi: 'Do You Care Whether Or Not Four Americans Died?

"Shouldn't people be held accountable for the fact that four Americans died, including a very dear man?"

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) asked an armor piercing question in the midst of some contentious crosstalk on today's edition of "Meet the Press." After being asked by host David Gregory what the scandal in Benghazi would be "if the worst thing were true," McCain said he didn't know the answer to that question, but wanted answers to other open inquiries anyway.

"We have had a massive cover-up on the part of the administration..." McCain began, before Gregory started pushing back in response.

"A massive cover up of what?" Gregory asked. "Susan Rice said there was a lot of confusion..."

Before Gregory could finish his question, McCain snapped, "Do you care, David? Do you care, David? I'm asking you, do you care whether four Americans died? The reasons for that? And shouldn't people be held accountable for the fact that four Americans died, including a very dear man?"

"A cover-up of what?" Gregory persisted.

"Of the information concerning the deaths of four brave Americans," McCain said.
