20-year-old drove through a fence to vandalize a Trump 2020 sign — then got her car stuck

Not the smartest political criminal

A Trump supporter says that he captured a 20-year-old woman vandalizing his Trump 2020 sign, but what really tipped off the cops to identify her was that she abandoned her car nearby.

George Bentley told WSB-TV in Atlanta that he had put up a barbed wire fence in order to protect the sign he erected for the president's re-election campaign.

We want him to be elected again in 2020, and we wanted to give our support for him," Bentley said.

He says that his security cameras captured the car as it drove through the barbed wire fence and knocked over a brightly-colored cube at about 1 in the morning on Monday.

The video then shows the 20-year-old woman spray-painting on the sign.

But she ran into a little problem when she tried to drive the car away — it was stuck.

Bentley says they would have been difficult to identify her except they had her car.

"If the car hadn't been here with the tag on it, and we just had video of the person, it would have been really tough," Bentley said.

Police identified the woman and say they'll charge her with criminal trespass and failure to report a crash.

Bentley said he was annoyed that someone had trespassed on his property to vandalize his sign.

"It really irritates me," he said. "I believe people should be able to protest, but not on my property, you know?"

He estimates that the damages to his property reached into thousands of dollars.

Here's the local video of the vandalism:
