Outside of Guymon, Oklahoma, a family works to build their own piece of the American dream. Meghan and Cody Gates met in college, both being collegiate athletes. Together they raise their daughters Lola and Hazel on the high plains of Oklahoma. The Gateses have a small cattle herd on their farm; for them, beef is in their blood. It's extremely hard work to raise cattle; most people have no concept of the work it takes to get a steak onto the plate. She wrote a cookbook called Foundations of Beef to showcase the ingredient and the farmers whose life revolves around these beautiful animals.
