Clinton has no one but herself to blame

Hillary Clinton can complain all she likes about James Comey reopening the investigation into her email server. But it was wildly irresponsible to run for president while under a criminal FBI investigation in the first place.

Back in July, Hillary Clinton stated that "What [Donald Trump] has laid out is the most dangerous, reckless approach to being president that I think we've ever seen."

In the third debate, she echoed Bernie Sanders and said "...you are the most dangerous person to run for president in the modern history of America."

Despite Trump's faults, I believe this is hyperbole and I would hope Clinton does as well. Because if she doesn't, it is absolute confirmation that she is the most reckless, power-hungry person to ever run for president in the history of the United States.

If she truly thought Trump was so dangerous, she would have dropped out of the race a long, long, long time ago.

As we all know, James Comey sent a letter to Congress on Friday, October 28—less than two weeks before the election—to inform them that the FBI had come across new emails in an unrelated investigation and wanted to "...take appropriate steps designed to allow investigators to review these emails to determine whether they contain classified information."

And all of this purportedly comes from the investigation into Anthony Weiner allegedly having explicit conversations with a 15-year-old girl.

Like, how is reality even real right now?

After this news broke, the Internet basically exploded.

Trump truimphantly said "I have great respect for the fact that the FBI and Department of Justice are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible mistake that they made."

Clinton lied and said Comey only sent the letter to Republicans.

Rachel Maddow almost started crying. I presume Sean Hannity did as well, but with tears of joy. Etc.

Speculation has also ran wild. Yahoo News noted that Comey hasn't read these emails and doesn't have a warrant yet. The emails may even be duplicates. The Daily Mail declares that Comey jumped at the chance to reopen the investigation as he was facing a coup within the FBI amongst agents who were convinced Hillary should have been indicted. Democrats accuse Comey of interfering with the election, note the DOJ was opposed to this action and believe it was because of the pressure Trump and Republicans were putting on Comey. And rumors are swirling that Comey is just trying to get out ahead of this because he thinks Wikileaks has these emails too, they're utterly damning, and is about to release them and Comey wants to get back on the soon-to-be President Trump's good side.

Either way, we'll find out soon enough. But while Clinton and company can blame Comey and the Republicans all they want, it doesn't matter. In the end, this is all her fault and she knows it, or at least she should.

It is almost inconceivable to me that someone could run for president with an active, ongoing FBI criminal investigation against them. There is no question she had an unsanctioned private email server, that 33,000 emails were deleted after she received a subopea, and then a staff member used BleachBit to hide them for good. Members of her staff, probably at her behest, actually took a hammer to her old phones.

Indeed, with fear of stating the obvious, had she turned all of this stuff over originally, the FBI would not be reopening this investigation!

And despite not originally recommending an indictment, Comey absolutely exoriated her for being "extremely careless," noting, amongst other things, that,

"From the group of 30,000 e-mails returned to the State Department, 110 e-mails in 52 e-mail chains have been determined by the owning agency to contain classified information at the time they were sent or received. Eight of those chains contained information that was Top Secret at the time they were sent; 36 chains contained Secret information at the time; and eight contained Confidential information, which is the lowest level of classification. Separate from those, about 2,000 additional e-mails were “up-classified” to make them Confidential; the information in those had not been classified at the time the e-mails were sent.

"The FBI also discovered several thousand work-related e-mails that were not in the group of 30,000 that were returned by Secretary Clinton to State in 2014... With respect to the thousands of e-mails we found that were not among those produced to State, agencies have concluded that three of those were classified at the time they were sent or received, one at the Secret level and two at the Confidential level."

And of course, add to this that Clinton lied threw her teeth about this scandal during the entire process.

And that's just the email scandal and doesn't go into all of her other baggage, from the Wikileaks about the DNC rigging the Democratic primary in her favor, evidence of corruption at the Clinton Foundation, ties to despotic foreign countries such as Saudi Arabia, Benghazi, the disastrous Libyan intervention, the alleged harrasment of the women her husband allegedly abused, health concerns, Whitewater, Travelgate, the Uranium One deal with Russia, the various brazen lies she's told over the years, etc.

Clinton appears to be one of the most cartoonishly corrupt politicians to have ever run for office. If the Democrats cared about winning this election, they should have ran the most boring candidate ever. Even Bernie Sanders would have likely won against Trump, although his membership in a Trotskyist organization and praise for bread lines might have stopped him. The best choice was probably Joe Biden, but none of that matters now.

However this mess works out, a couple of things are clear. First, Comey has been and is in an incredibly difficult situation where no matter what he did or does, he will be criticized severely. And Clinton had no business running for president. If Trump is as dangerous as she has said he is, someone with her baggage should have quite obviously stepped aside. We know it. She knows it. Everybody knows it. She has no one to blame for this but herself.
