WTF MSM!? Acosta and the politics of elitism

WTF MSM!? Acosta and the politics of elitism

Whoops …

Algorithms gone awry … Earlier today I noticed a tweet from Adrienne Royer that showed a Google search result for “california republicans (sp)” that returned a result of “Nazism” under the category of ideology on the Google Knowledge Graph card you get on Google search results. I reached out to Google, and you can read the company’s response over at Conservative Review. Suffice it to say there needs to be safeguards in place to ensure that this sort of slander of conservative organizations doesn’t happen due to an “algorithm.” Google should be held accountable when things like this happen.

NY Times writer roasted … New York Times writer Julie Davis complained on Twitter Tuesday night that a child at a Trump rally said she was “Fake News.” Fast-forward less than 24 hours. The same writer had to correct her story to reflect the real number of attendees at the rally was 5,500 instead of the 1000 people she initially estimated. The Daily Caller’s Amber Athey has the hilarious side-by-side tweets.

Truther Joy? … MSNBC’s Joy Reid is facing another problem from her old blog. It has now surfaced that Reid seemingly published blog posts advancing 9/11 “truther” conspiracies. The Washington Post’s Paul Farhi explains. Reid was able to skirt around past blog posts that some said had an anti-gay tone. Will this latest revelation result in any consequences for Reid?

Acosta huffs …

Kardashians … On Wednesday CNN’s Jim Acosta blasted President Donald Trump for meeting with Kim Kardashian West to discuss criminal justice reform. No matter where you stand on the issue, take a look at what Acosta said: That the meeting with Kardashian West was “not a serious thing to have happened at the White House.” Conservative Review’s Carmel Kookogey has the details of Acosta’s hypocrisy. But there’s something else to note about this.

Elite progressives like Jim Acosta believe that only people with credentialed study in special knowledge should be able to weigh in on public policy. It’s the kind of thinking that leads to college-educated bureaucrats making rules that tradespeople in the field have to follow. Sure, those bureaucrats have never swung a hammer professionally, but they are more than happy to tell the little people how they have to do it.

Kardashian West is a successful businesswoman in her own right. Sure, she got a head start with family money, but she hasn’t sat around living off the interest. She has gone out into the world and created value for her fans and her family. She has every right to discuss whatever she pleases with the president of the United States if he cares to sit down with her.

What Acosta and his ilk don’t understand is that his line of thinking here is another thing that drove the election of Donald Trump. People are sick and tired of their “betters” telling them what is good for them. We live in a republic of, by, and for the people. The last time I checked, Kardashian West was a person.

Do you know who I am? … Poor, poor Acosta. Yesterday when he left the White House, he seemingly forgot his pass. The dutiful Secret Service agent didn’t recognize him, and, well, with no pass, he wasn’t getting back in. Twitchy has the details of an annoyed Acosta and his reaction. Poor thing.

Bee cee … Last night, TBS’ Samantha Bee outrageously called Ivanka Trump a word that begins with the letter “c” and rhymes with a deliberate short hit in baseball. That is the part that conservative media has fixated on, and it is horrendous.

But as NewsBusters notes, that is not the only offensive part. Bee went on to tell Ivanka to seduce her father to enact immigration reform. Bee said, “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f***ing stop it! Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes. OK?”

That’s just as, if not more, offensive than the C-word. CNN and Oliver Darcy, who works with Brian Stelter on the CNN Money team, deserve credit for calling Bee out on the air. John King also said that his company, which owns CNN and TBS, “should say something” about the remark. TBS and Bee have offered an apology.

Vacation time? …

It is unofficially summer and the start of vacation time for millions of Americans. This year I’ll be heading to the World Boardgaming Championships in Pennsylvania – yes, they do exist.  What are your plans? Let me know the fun things you are looking forward to at reno@conservativereview.com. Also, don’t forget to share WTF MSM!? with your friends by using the links below.
