Why do we pay Congress? It certainly isn’t to be our representatives in DC

How screwed up is it when Congress insists on probing the president with a special counsel over two years and for around $30 million dollars, only to have congressional leadership say never mind, we’ll take up the issue now?

They plan to waste time and money on the same thing they already wasted it on. It never ends.

Democrats waste money; this is a given. The more strident they are, the more money is wasted. Every idea they have leads to bankruptcy, because in their minds, they’re “doing their jobs.”

For two years we heard about the noble cause of investigating the president.

So they gave the job to Mueller, but now it’s still not good enough; it’s not finished. They want the full report so they can waste our time and money on hearings and more partisan accusations.

Why do we pay Congress? It certainly isn’t to be our representatives in Washington D.C. We are more represented by the president, and he’s donating his salary to various causes. We honestly get more bang for our buck from a man who won’t take the money we set aside for him.

If this Mueller episode isn’t proof enough that we need a national “Dock Their Pay” initiative, I don’t know what is.

The American Left has already introduced a bill last year to dock congressional pay when the government shuts down.

“If members of Congress can't fulfill their basic duty to keep the government open and provide the essential services Americans depend on, then they don't deserve their paychecks," Heitkamp said in a statement, The Hill reported. "Period."

We should have a talk about what is essential and what services we need. Period.

What do you call this new effort by congressional Democrats when they use our time, offices, tax dollars, and resources to redo two years of investigations because they didn’t like the outcome? Looking busy? We should say, “No!” If you’ve got time to lean, you’ve got time to clean.

And if we can’t dock their pay, then start defunding their money-wasting priorities. The economy is booming. Cut welfare; it will be better for everyone involved, in fact. The monstrous allocation of funds for repetitive services ought to be gutted. There is no need for federal money when state money more closely reflects the priorities of each state. Take a red pen and slash, slash, slash. When they squeal, tell them they’ve brought it on themselves.

A part of me wants them to keep it up, because there is so little tolerance out here in the country for more investigations. A part of me wishes they’ll continue pissing off the electorate and showing their upside-down priorities. But then when you come to realize that they’ve absolutely no moral center on the wasting of money, and they never address it except to demand more money, a switch is flipped.

The American people are looking forward to a great year to grow their income and prosperity. Lord knows they have had to tighten their belts during the horrific Obama years, when we were all told America can’t be great any more, that we have to do less, have less, and make less. When we finally see a light at the end of a tunnel, the Democrats want more suffering.

Why fund them any more?
