Grandstanding Kevin McCarthy has done NOTHING to stop the invasion over our border

The single most important job of the government is to protect our borders from an invasion. Given that we have a powerful military, you won’t see a foreign military challenge us at the border. But we are seeing today hundreds of thousands of impoverished individuals from Latin America empowering paramilitary drug cartels at our border to smuggle them into our country along with gangs, drugs, and criminals. Worse, the courts are largely responsible for this problem. Why is this not a bigger legislative or campaign issue for Republicans headed into the final days of election season?

Here's what is happening at our border. Forum-shopped district judges ruled that anyone who self-traffics themselves into the country in order to fleece the American people is not only a legitimate asylee but must be released into our population pending the indefinite wait before an administrative judge can take their case, so long as they come with kids. In addition, we have Republicans like Mitt Romney joining the virtue-signaling over their well-being at the expense of our communities. All of this created a tsunami of people coming with kids to cross the border, while drugs and gangs continue to pour in through the gaps they create by tying down our agents. Remember, the entire border is controlled by various cartels such as Sinaloa, the Zetas, and Gulf to the point that they are now controlling checkpoints and searching vehicles.

Now, thanks to the courts and these policies, there are so many illegals coming and seeking bogus asylum or quasi-asylum status that there is not enough room in detention facilities to hold them. Accordingly, even more people are being released into our population, never to be seen again. Furthermore, because there are so many of them taking advantage of our “compassion,” it takes so long to get a hearing that judges are saying they must be released even if we have room to hold them. Media outlets are now reporting that ICE is releasing them in the Phoenix area en masse. A DHS official told NBC that this is "the start of a dam breaking" and that it will be replicated “all across the southern border soon.”

Meanwhile, federal judges are giving standing to every last illegal alien to dismantle our statutes. It got so bad that a federal judge in San Francisco actually said a section of immigration law prohibiting states from undermining federal immigration law is unconstitutional. This is an appalling ruling given that one of the impetuses for the move from the Articles of Confederation to the Constitution was, indeed, to give the feds control over immigration so they can better manage the flow of immigrants and ensure that states don’t bring in people the rest of the country wouldn’t want just to juice up their representation in Congress … as California is doing today.

James Madison explains in Federalist #42 that the federalized power over naturalization solved “a very serious embarrassment” and “defect” of the Articles of Confederation whereby “certain descriptions of aliens, who had rendered themselves obnoxious” can force themselves on several states had they “acquired the character of citizens under the laws of another State.”

So now, in an era when the federal government destroys state powers, this is the one legitimate federal power that has been neutered so sanctuaries can encourage this invasion of the entire federal union.

How bad is the invasion? According to new census data analyzed by the Center for Immigration studies, there are now 300,000 babies per year born to illegal immigrant families who then saddle us with the bill and demand citizenship for their children. In the critical state of Texas, 13.3 percent of all babies born are to illegal immigrant parents. Let the statistic seep into your brain for a moment and ask yourself: At what point is this an invasion? To put a further perspective on it, there are more babies born to illegal immigrant families (50,791) in Texas than to legal immigrants families (43,841). That is astounding given that there has been a record number of legal immigrants settling in Texas year after year for several decades. Roughly 90,000 green card holders have settled in Texas every single year for the past 15 years, increasing to 110,000 the past few years.

This is an invasion of Texas and of the rest of the union, and it is destroying our civilization. This should not even be a partisan issue.

So, what is the GOP response? After nullifying the GOP control of the House for two years and surrendering to the Senate on six occasions to not fund the border wall, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is now introducing a stand-alone bill to fund the border. He’s even touring the border with endless photo ops. Many credulous and vacuous GOP pundits are praising McCarthy for his newfound zeal. None of them are asking why now, how will this bill go anywhere, and what has he done until now.

The fact is that a stand-alone bill is meaningless because the Senate will never pass it. This is why the budget bills, which are must-pass, are all that matters. As I’ve observed ad nauseum over the past two years, as House majority leader, McCarthy had six opportunities to pass CRs and omnibus bill that contained funding for the border and defunding of sanctuary cities. Yet every time, he surrendered to the Senate bills without a fight. The bill he just voted for actually contained three policy riders encouraging the border invasion.

Now that the House is out of session until the election and Republicans will likely lose control of the chamber anyway, McCarthy can showboat all he wants, knowing that he lost control and the ball is no longer in play. When the ball is in play, he tosses an interception and then brags in front of the fans during a postgame exercise that he can throw passes.

Why is he doing this now? Because he knows Republicans will likely lose the House and members will be looking to Jim Jordan for new leadership – a leader who will actually hold up the prerogatives of the GOP majority against the more liberal Senate. Amazingly, many “conservative” pundits are falling for the McCarthy subterfuge. This happens every time during every leadership fight and during every primary. They fake to conservatives after several perfidious acts of betrayal, and conservatives think it means something.

Keep in mind, this is not just a betrayal on the all-important budget bills. Even stand-alone messaging bills were scuttled for the entire tenure of Kevin McCarthy as majority leader. Vital legislation that cuts to the core of the invasion, such as the Davis-Oliver interior enforcement bill, the asylum fix, the unaccompanied alien child fix, and numerous ideas to get tough on illegal immigration and the courts that protect them never saw the light of day on the House floor. The E-Verify bill, along with combatting identity theft, has never seen the light of day, even after the Mollie Tibbetts murder. These bills passed the House Judiciary Committee with full hearings under regular order in two successive sessions of Congress and never got a vote.

In fact, McCarthy took one provision from the Davis-Oliver bill on gang members, severed it from the broader bill that he refused to pass, and put it under the name of RINO Barbara Comstock, who is not even a member of the committee. Then, even that one provision that they voted on, to the exclusion of the rest of the bill, was adulterated. The original bill stripped the courts of jurisdiction to hear challenges to deportations, while the McCarthy-Comstock version explicitly invited the courts back in to grant standing to illegals! To this day, the courts are blocking detention of gang members.

Thus, even after betraying us on every single budget, if McCarthy was serious about posturing properly, he’d call the House back into session before the election and vote on all these proposals. Ironically, that would give him the one chance to actually be speaker rather than fight for minority leader. But he won’t even pander properly.

Now this man has the nerve to grandstand in front of us when he knows there is a challenger? If we gullibly fall for this charade from the most failed House leadership of all time, we deserve the endless betrayal we will suffer.
