Why is Beto O'Rourke Instagramming his dental cleaning?

In the modern age, if you don't put something on social media, it's like it didn't even happen. Maybe that's why Beto O'Rourke inexplicably posted his dental cleaning to his Instagram, on the theory that if he doesn't, his teeth won't actually get clean?

I don't know; I use social media as much as the next person, but I don't understand the impulse to share literally everything on social media. There are some moments that should be kept private, and any super close-up shot of the inside of the human mouth definitely qualifies in my book. To quote that one fish from Finding Nemo, it's a disgusting place.

I just don't know if this impulse to share everything is in any way healthy. Sure, I guess it helps keep us connected to people in our lives who live far away, but isn't it diminishing our own enjoyment of life? If you can't enjoy your food unless you take a picture of it and post it to your Snapchat, doesn't that degrade your life in some way?

I guess the one thing that can be said for Instagramming a dental visit is that at least you aren't ruining a good experience by obsessing over its social media impact.

By the way, I see that Beto is also trying to grow a beard, which means he apparently isn't done losing to Ted Cruz yet.
