Horowitz: Will the omnibust finally push conservatives to rebel against the GOP?

Everything that is wrong with this country is embodied in the 4,155-page omnibus bill negotiated by Mitch McConnell and supported by the majority of Senate Republicans. Like all bills that fleece the American people, it was dropped in a massive cardboard box at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday morning and will be passed in less than two days. Just know it didn’t have to be this way, because Senate Democrats always needed 10 Republicans to help steal the fiscal year 2023 budget away from the newly elected GOP House. But the big question is: Now what?

After spending $60 billion on Ukraine, Biden demanded another $37 billion for this corrupt oligarch and his militias, which are saturated with neo-Nazis. So, Republicans compromised by giving him ... another $45 billion, because Senate Republicans are more supportive of the World Economic Forum agenda than even Biden. In other words, we’ve giving to Ukraine in less than a year almost as much as we’ve sent to Israel for decades. And it’s not like we have anything to show for it, like Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

Chuck Schumer was correct when he described the omnibus as "overflowing with very good news" for Democrats. It keeps every single tyrannical bureaucracy funded at record levels. Republicans are celebrating that in exchange they secured an extra $76 billion in defense spending. But it’s time conservatives come to grips with the fact that our national security apparatus is woke, broken, and even tyrannical, so record funding of $858 billion will just get you more deep-state corruption, surveillance of Americans, foreign escapades, and social experimentation.

Being pro-military was the hallmark of a Reagan conservative that informed the minds of the past two generations of conservative policy. However, conserving and even growing a military that is now irrevocably woke – a military where you must carry a vaccine card and mask on base but can’t carry a weapon, and a military where Christianity is scorned and transgenderism is embraced – is not conservative at all. Rather than Republicans throwing more money at a woke military, the time has come to starve it to death until its harmful activities are halted and structural reforms are put in place.

And speaking of national security, of course it funds border security … for other nations.

As for the 800-pound gorilla in the room – COVID tyranny – the CDC got an increase of $760 million, now sporting a budget of $9.2 billion to impose its biomedical tyranny and human experimentation on us. Most of the increases were specifically awarding those responsible for the COVID atrocities – programs like the Public Health Infrastructure and Capacity Program, the Infectious Disease Rapid Response Reserve Fund, Global Public Health Protection, the Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics Center, Public Health Workforce, and Data Modernization. But that’s nothing compared to Fauci’s NIH, which now has a budget of $47.5 billion, about as much as we allocate for Ukraine! And no, the $1.5 million allocated for the COVID-19 American History Project will not tell the story of how these agencies are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths.

Who says crime doesn’t pay? Here’s a summary from the Senate Health Committee of who wins out most from the health care biosecurity funding:

The bill includes $3.3 billion for the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), an increase of $560 million over fiscal year 2022. These investments will strengthen our nation’s biosecurity by accelerating advanced research and development of medical countermeasures for pandemic threats, and fortifying our stockpiles and supply chains for drugs, masks, and other lifesaving medical supplies. These increases include $950 million, an increase of $200 million over fiscal year 2022, for the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), and $965 million, an increase of $120 million over fiscal year 2022, for the Strategic National Stockpile. The bill also includes $300 million, an increase of $35 million over fiscal year 2022, for Pandemic Influenza to improve the effectiveness of the flu vaccine and better respond to changes in flu strains.

But it’s not only the biomedical security state spying on and persecuting you. Under this bill, the FBI would receive $11.3 billion, an increase of more than $569 million. Not surprisingly, retiring Senator Richard Shelby (RINO-Ala.), the chief Republican negotiator, had an FBI building renamed the "Richard Shelby Center for Innovation & Advanced Training." This after he scoffed at Rep. Chip Roy’s allegation that he was busy naming monuments after himself.

It should be abundantly clear after this month that the Senate GOP leadership is subversive beyond repair and that Democrats have at least an 80-20 majority. But the House is amazing, right? Well, the Senate Republicans were only able to get away with this chicanery because they knew Kevin McCarthy and House leaders are putting on a performance theater for their base while hoping the bill passes. It is welcome news to find McCarthy trashing the bill in the eleventh hour – even agreeing to Chip Roy’s suggestion of opposing any future bill sponsored by a supporter of the omnibus – but here was McCarthy in September when it actually mattered?

We pointed out at the time that if the continuing resolution before Sept. 30 was not kicked into early next year, it would be nearly impossible to block the rush to pass an omnibus before Christmas. Senate Republicans know McCarthy was silent back then and voiced no opposition because he didn’t envision a battle for speaker at the time. They know he is not for real. The only way to play hardball with the Senate is to have a leader who is actually oriented towards our beliefs.

We’ve been playing this game for years. Republicans betray us on every issue that matters; conservatives grumble for a few days and then go back to carrying water for them. The time has come to finally pledge to vote against these people, including in general elections. This is the only leverage we will ever wield over them. They know we are on the plantation no matter how much they betray us, which is why we will keep doing this for the rest of our lives unless we finally declare “Never RINO.”

I laid out a multi-pronged plan to wean ourselves off the current Republican Party, which would require not just an aggressive primary plan but also a strategy to run independent candidates. However, we must begin by pledging to vote against anyone who supported the bill. There is so much focus on trying to defeat Democrats Joe Manchin and Jon Tester in red states, but it’s an even bigger imperative to defeat Republicans like Wicker in Mississippi who voted for the omnibus and is ruining a solid red seat.
