How a Texas Police Officer Handled a Teenage Girl and Was Ultimately Suspended

"Get out of here or you're going to jail."

A Texas police officer has been put on administrative leave after a video surfaced Saturday in which the officer can be seen using excessive force on several teenagers who were attending a pool party at a community pool.

According to a statement from the McKinney Police Department on Sunday, officers responded to a call at 7:15 p.m., Friday of a disturbance between multiple juveniles in a location where they did not live nor allegedly have permission to be. McKinney police said some calls claimed the youths were "actively fighting."

The statement claims the responding officers "encountered a large crowd that refused to comply with police commands."

In the video posted to YouTube by Brandon Brooks, one officer yelled at multiple young people for not staying seated on the ground when he had ordered them to do so. He chased and then handcuffed two black young men before wrestling a young black girl to ground. The officer can be seen pulling the girl to the ground by her arm and hair and sitting on her to subdue her.

When a group of young men rushed to come to her aid, the officer pulled his gun on the teenagers.

"Get out of here or you're going to jail," the officer shouted at bystanders in the video.

Content warning: Some strong language

"This video has raised concerns that are being investigated by the McKinney Police Department," the statement from the department reads. "At this time, one of the responding officers has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation."

The video description claims that the police showed up after a fight between a mother and another girl erupted and everyone, "including the people who didn't do anything," immediately began to run away.

"So the cops just started putting everyone on the ground and in handcuffs for no reason," the video description reads. "This kind of force is uncalled for especially on children and innocent bystanders."

According to NBC DFW, police could not confirm if any arrests had been made.

The police officer's name has not been released.

An official with the McKinney Police Department told TheBlaze a press conference would be held to address the incident Sunday afternoon.
