Racist 'dog whistles' and 'Never Nancy' Democrats could mean trouble within the Democratic Party

On Thursday's show of "Pat Gray Unleashed," Pat discussed the turmoil that appears to threaten the unity of the Democrati Partyc, or more specifically, the emergence of the "Never Nancy" movement  and the accusation of "racially charged dog whistles."

"Never Nancies"

At least 17 House Democrats have promised to oppose Nancy Pelosi when the vote for speaker of the House is held, according to a Fox News report.

The following list of names was included in the report from Fox News:

"Fox News is told the 17 Democrats who have signed the letter include Fudge, Moulton, and Reps. Tim Ryan of Ohio, Kathleen Rice of New York, Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, Kurt Schrader of Oregon, Filemon Vela Jr. of Texas, Bill Foster of Illinois, Brian Higgins of New York, Stephen Lynch of Massachusetts, Linda Sanchez of California, Jim Cooper of Tennessee, Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, Joe Cunningham of South Carolina, Max Rose of New York, Anthony Brindisi of New York and Ben McAdams of Utah."

Pat mentioned that those people who willfully added their names to the list of dissenters could find themselves in a tough spot if Pelosi wins her bid for speaker.

On Wednesday, Ohio Rep. Marcia Fudge said that she is considering a run for speaker, and immediately drew support from fellow Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton (Mass.) in a tweet on Wednesday.

"Congress needs a new leader. Period.  I’m hoping Marcia Fudge, my first (and arguably best) mentor in Congress will run for the next Speaker of the House. I have full faith in her ability to lead our new Congress to its fullest potential."

Pelosi's team of backers have reportedly been laboring to battle the intraparty insurrection that is mounting.

'Racially-charged dog whistles'

South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn — the highest-ranking black lawmaker in Congress —  claimed that opponents within the party are using racially charged "dog whistles" to impede his bid for the Majority Whip position, the No. 3 spot within the Democratic House leadership. Clyburn is being called a figurehead, which appears to be an offensive charge according to reports.
