Suspected thief told police this ridiculous excuse – is he the world’s worst robber?

A suspect found near a convenience store that had been robbed gave police an interesting excuse, telling officers that his twin must have robbed the store instead.

The problem? He doesn’t have an identical twin. Also, he managed to leave behind his phone and his car keys. Doc Thompson and the guys enjoyed this “leftover” on Friday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson.”

Lacy Bernard Anderson, 37, was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of robbing a Quick Stop in Yakima, Washington, the Yakima Herald reported. The robbery occurred on a Sunday evening, with the thief telling the clerk he was armed and motioning to his waist as if he had a weapon, according to court documents.

Anderson allegedly took $180 from the convenience store but made the mistake of leaving behind his phone and keys. Police picked up Anderson about two blocks away and said he had hidden an 8-inch steak knife in his sock. He was charged with second-degree robbery in Yakima County Superior Court and will be arraigned next week.

“Is keeping a steak knife in your sock against the law?” Brad Staggs asked rhetorically on Friday’s show.

“I don’t know what Yakimans believe, but it’s not in my neighborhood,” Doc returned jokingly.

His tongue-in-cheek theory was that the robbery suspect may have had a doppelganger, and Brad agreed that a “parallel universe” might be the answer.
