Andrew McCabe sent FBI agents an email after Trump fired Comey - here's what it said

An email released Wednesday that was sent by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to FBI agents after President Donald Trump fired James Comey showed the official trying to keep morale up at the law enforcement department.

Why is this important?

Some Trump supporters believe that the email shows the anti-Trump bias that many are accusing the department of harboring.

Here's what the email said:

“First, thank you," McCabe wrote. "Thank you for continuing to do the great work of this organization. Thank you for doing it professionally, competently, and independently, despite the fact that we are still trying to adjust to an FBI without Director Comey."

"We all miss him," he continued. "And I know that he misses us."

"But the thing that makes us so unique, the DNA we all share," McCabe continued, "is our commitment to the mission — our unbending devotion to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution. That's the reason each of us wanted to be a party of the FBI, and it is the thing that keeps us together today. Thank you for your continued focus on the mission."

“So please — hang in there. As men and women of the FBI, we are at our best when times are tough. Please stay focused on the mission, keep doing great work, be good to each other and we will get through this together,” he concluded.

What was the reaction?

Some on social media questioned whether his saying that they missed Comey was a sign that McCabe was questioning the president's decision to fire him.

The president and his allies have called into doubt the objectivity of the FBI after some agents were shown to have anti-Trump sentiments.
