Spacey scandal worsens as Netflix suspends production on ‘House of Cards’ indefinitely

What's the latest?

Less than 24 hours after announcing that the award-winning Netflix series "House of Cards" was scheduled to end in 2018 after its sixth season, Netflix and production company Media Rights Capital announced production on the final season would be suspended indefinitely.

“MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on "House of Cards"Season 6, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew,” the two companies said Tuesday in a joint statement to Deadline.

Cast and crew had just started production for the sixth season in Baltimore several weeks ago and received word Monday that it would be the final season. The news came on the same day that allegations of sexual advances against lead actor Kevin Spacey were reported. Spacey didn't recall the incident and apologized. He also announced he is gay.

Are there any new developments in the sexual abuse scandal?

Kevin Spacey's estranged brother, Randall Fowler, told The Daily Mail in 2004 that their father, Thomas Geoffrey Fowler, was physically and sexually abusive.

Their father, Thomas Geoffrey Fowler, joined the American Nazi Party when Spacey and his brother were just boys. He trimmed his mustache to resemble Adolf Hitler and he regularly whipped and raped his eldest son, Randall Fowler.

The Mail went on to report that the brothers' father lined the walls of his home office with pornographic pictures, which prevented the children from ever having any guests over.

Fowler, who is currently writing a book about child sex abuse, said he is "not surprised" to hear of the allegations leveled against his brother.

"We're not too surprised. And we know that Kevin has been in the closet for a long time," Fowler's agent, Bonnie Soto, said.
