Liz Warren mocks Trump after judge blocks latest travel ban

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) took to her social media account to mock the president over a Hawaiian judge handing down a decision blocking the latest iteration of his travel ban.

What did she say?

"[President Donald Trump] just can’t take a hint. His illegal Muslim ban is now 0 for 3 vs the Constitution," she tweeted in reference to the previous two iterations of the president's travel ban that were rejected by the courts.

Warren has been a vocal and vitriolic critic of Trump, and many from the more progressive wing of the Democrat party hope she'll run in 2020 to challenge the president.

"It’s long past time for [President Trump] to fight for all Americans – not betray our values & undermine our safety with a Muslim ban," she added.

Why was the travel ban blocked?

The travel ban was struck down Tuesday by a federal judge in Hawaii just hours before it was to take effect. It would restrict travel to the U.S. by nationals from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad and North Korea.

The judge said the ban "plainly discriminates based on nationality" and claimed it had "internal incoherencies that markedly undermine its stated 'national security' rationale."

How did the Trump administration respond?

A spokesman for the Justice Department said they will appeal the ruling, adding, "Today's ruling is incorrect, fails to properly respect the separation of powers, and has the potential to cause serious negative consequences for our national security."
