Just one day after being fired from Fox News, absolute tragedy hits Eric Bolling's family

Just one day after Eric Bolling was fired from his longtime position as a network host at Fox News, news broke that his 19-year-old son has died.

The devastating news

Yashar Ali, the reporter who last month broke news of sexual harassment allegations against Bolling, broke the news about Bolling's son, Eric Chase Bolling Jr., Saturday afternoon.

Fox News released a statement shortly after 3 p.m. EST confirming the news.

"We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Eric Bolling's son. Eric Chase was a wonderful young man and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Bolling family," the statement said.

Details and cause of death weren't immediately available.

Chase studied economics at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He was the only child of Bolling and his wife, Adrienne.

Bolling's statement

Bolling released a statement via Twitter Saturday afternoon addressing the devastating news.

"Adrienne and I are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Eric Chase last night. Details still unclear. Thoughts, prayers appreciated," he said.

Replies to the tweet were nothing but supportive and empathetic.

A devoted father

Though his name had only recently been dragged through the mud, Bolling was well-known for being an extremely devoted father.

Eric Chase Jr. pre-prom. My guy is growing up.

Bolling was a longtime employee at Fox. He was first a contributor, working at both Fox News and Fox News Business, before he later became a network host. He co-hosted the hit-show "The Five" from its inception until earlier this year when he was given his own show, "The Specialists." He also hosted a Saturday panel show called "Cashin' In."

Prayers for Bolling and his entire family.
