Maxine Waters has a bizarre theory as to why Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) issued a stern point of view on Sunday after it was announced that President Donald Trump pardoned former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of crimes stemming from criminal contempt of court for unfairly targeting Hispanics while hunting illegal aliens.

Waters' comments

Waters on Twitter wrote, "I'm not surprised Trump pardoned racial profiler Arpaio. White Nationalists, KKK, & Duke celebrated Trump's election b/c he is one of them!"

Reaction to Waters' comment was mixed — many supported who liberals refer to as "Auntie Maxine," and cheered her on.

Others, however, called her out for her rhetoric and said things like, "Obama commuted over a thousand felons on his way out but that's okay."

"Excuse lady Obama pardoned a convicted Puerto Rican terrorist get your act together, incredible its all about the hate, please RETIRE!!" another wrote.

Waters history of racial accusations against Trump

After blaming Trump for the Charlottesville attack, Waters called Trump's White House the "White Supremacists' House."

"Trump refuses to condemn white supremacists & terrorists who showed up in Charlottesville. Is he sending a signal? Everyone must be careful," she wrote on Twitter. "Trump has made it clear - w/ Bannon & Gorka in the WH, & the Klan in the streets, it is now the White Supremacists' House."

Earlier in August, Waters called out Trump for appointing Attorney General Jeff Sessions to the Trump administration, and claimed that the only reason Sessions was ever employed under Trump was because he agreed with Sessions' "racist agenda."
