This 17-year-old girl frightens intruder away with what she had hidden under her pillow

A teenager from Spokane County, Washington, surprised a would-be burglar who broke into her house while she was sleeping with her father's gun, which was lying under her pillow as she slept.

The 17-year-old, identified as Kimber Wood, reported to KHQ that she awoke to unnatural noises in her home early Monday morning.

Wood had been pre-warned by her parents that there was an alleged car thief on the loose, so to take precaution, the teenager placed her father's handgun beneath her pillow while she slept.

Police reported that the suspect was alleged to have stolen a car and was on the loose before unlawfully entering Wood's house. A man matching the description of that of the alleged car thief broke into Wood's home in the early hours of Monday morning.

KHQ reported that Wood hid behind her makeup vanity, and waited for the intruder to come closer. Wood revealed that the man approached her, and at that point, she pointed her firearm at him and demanded that he leave the premises.

"Who are you?" she was said to ask. "Get the [expletive] out of my house!"

Wood revealed that the intruder fled, but not before stealing an all-terrain vehicle that belonged to her boyfriend. Wood added that she fired a shot at the ground as the intruder fled, but at the time of this writing, the suspect is still at large.

Local law enforcement, however, told KHQ that they "know" who they are looking for, and that a police photo of the suspect matched the description provided to police by Wood.
