Watch: Judge Jeanine Pirro condemns Paul Ryan for health care failure in fiery monologue

Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro tore into House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on her show Saturday over the GOP's failed effort to repeal and replace Obamacare late last week.

Pirro, whose show was hyped by President Donald Trump earlier in the day on Twitter, called on Ryan to resign over the debacle and shifted any and all blame for the bill's failure from Trump, despite the White House saying last week they were doing everything in their power to ensure that the bill would succeed.

"Paul Ryan needs to step down as Speaker of the House," Pirro began her show on Saturday. "The reason: he failed to deliver the votes on his health care bill, the one trumpeted to repeal and replace Obamacare, the one he had seven years to work one, the one he hid under lock and key in the basement of Congress, the one that had to be pulled to prevent the embarrassment of not having enough votes to pass."

Pirro acknowledged Trump used "valuable political capital" to get the bill enough votes to pass, but she refused to place any blame on the White House.

"Folk's I want to be clear: this is not on President Trump," she said. "No one expected a businessman to completely understand the nuances, the complicated ins-and-outs of Washington and its legislative process."

However, throughout his campaign for president, Trump routinely boasted that he was the best "dealmaker" who would be able to easily repeal and replace Obamacare. In fact, Trump made the claim at least five dozen times from June 2015 to Nov. 2016.

Trump said during a campaign rally in West Palm Beach, Florida, in Feb. 2016:

Look, I want — we’re going to — we’re going to repeal and — and replace Obamacare. Obamacare is a total and complete disaster. It’s going to be gone. We’re going to come up with a great health care plan, whether it’s health care savings accounts, we have a lot of different things.

During a campaign rally in Vally Forge, Pennsylvania, last November, Trump said:

When we win on November 8th and elect a Republican congress, we will be able to immediately repeal and replace Obamacare. Have to do it. I will ask Congress to convene a special session so we can repeal and replace, and it will be such an honor for me, for you, and for everybody in this country because Obamacare has to be replaced and we will do it and we will do it very, very quickly.

Still, Pirro centered the blame on Ryan.

"How could you possibly misjudge this?" she exclaimed. "I certainly have not spoken to the president about any of this, but I can only imagine that he and his aides took on health care because they believed you had his back, and you didn’t! You didn’t even test the waters. You had no consensus."

"And I hate it when [Sen. Chuck] Schumer and [Rep. Nancy] Pelosi get to beat their drums and talk about what a great day it is for America that President Trump failed when even they know that Obamacare is a total disaster," Pirro exclaimed.

But for Trump, Pirro said the president is handling his loss with "dignity." She also warned Trump that the House Freedom Caucus now feels "emboldened" and will "dig their heals in" on future legislative endeavors.

"Ryan has hurt you going forward and he's got to go," Pirro said.
