Trump lashes out at House Freedom Caucus for 'saving' Planned Parenthood, Obamacare
March 26, 2017
President Donald Trump lashed out at the House Freedom Caucus early Sunday and accused the conservative-wing of the House of Representatives of "saving" Planned Parenthood and Obamacare.
"Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!" the president tweeted around 8:20 a.m. EST.
Over the last week, the Freedom Caucus has been targeted with the ire of moderate Republicans over their refusal to support the GOP plan to replace Obamacare, known as the "American Health Care Act."
The caucus, along with it's leader Rep. Mike Meadows (R-N.C.), said they didn't support the bill because it didn't go far enough in repealing Obamacare and it didn't deliver on the GOP promise to replace Obamacare with a market-based solution.
Still, the Freedom Caucus said they tried to voice their concerns to GOP leadership and the White House, but they refused to listen.
According to reports, White House chief strategist Steve Bannon told the caucus last week that they had "no choice" but to vote for the bill.
Ultimately, the Freedom Caucus refused to support the bill because it resembled a watered-down version of Obamacare. The bill was pulled in the House just minutes before a full House vote Friday afternoon and has been deemed a failure on the part of Trump and Ryan.
